Someone posted a comment on one of my articles at EzineArticles that I had written concerning the need to have a Wordpress blog. The point made was that whether you have a Wordpress blog or one of the other types of blogs, you still have to have traffic.

Now, traffic is a part of the formula that is necessary for the success of your Internet business. Without traffic you will have no sales. Without sales, you have no Internet business.

In this article I will talk about how to get links to your newly created Wordpress blog. You see, if you just bought a brand new domain and created a Wordpress blog on that domain you will not get any traffic unless you have links pointing to your blog. Remember, “no links equals no traffic”. Let me say it another way, you have got to get links pointing to your site or you will not succeed!

These links should be of the highest quality. If you get 25 links from sites that are not authority sites it will not do you much good. It would be much better to get 5 links from sites that have good page rank and are closely matched to the theme of your blog.

There are two ways to get these types of links. First, you can research the web and find high quality sites that are theme related to your theme and contact them asking for links to your site. Good luck with that, why would they want to link to your new page rank zero site?

I suggest that you build a “Blog Farm“. Your own blog farm has one distinct advantage of being under your complete control. Instead of having to go begging for links, you will have the ability to add a link from your blog farm to your new Wordpress blog yourself. As a matter of fact, you will have the power to add a link to “any” new blog that you create in the future.

What happens is the link to your new Wordpress blog draws the search engine spiders which is necessary in order for your blog to be listed in the major search engines, which are Google, Yahoo, and MSN.

When you build a web site or a blog, you generally construct it around a theme. Your theme might be “Garden Furniture”. Let’s say that you setup a Wordpress blog. The first thing that you want to start doing after you get the blog set up is to start writing articles for the blog.

Obviously, each article should be written around a keyword. So, where do you get keywords that are related to your theme, which is “Garden Furniture”?

A quick and easy way is to use Google Adwords. If you do not have a Google Adwords account it is very easy to get one. All you have to do is sign up. The sign up fee is $5.00.

After you have signed up, log in to your account and click on “Tools”. You will be taken to a page where you can then do research on keywords. Type in garden furniture and immediately you get 72 keywords that are highly targeted to your theme.

* antique garden furniture

* wholesale garden furniture

* plus 68 more words

We really need to expand our number of keywords. What you do now is take each of the 72 keywords and expand them. Let’s take the first one on the list “outdoor garden furniture” and expand it. All you do is take this keyword and run a search just like you did for our theme keyword. Here are the results.

1. better homes and gardens patio furniture

2. garden treasures patio furniture

3. garden patio furniture

4. better homes and garden patio furniture

5. garden and patio furniture

6. better homes and gardens outdoor furniture

7. garden treasures outdoor furniture

8. garden outdoor furniture

9. garden place patio furniture

11. better homes & garden patio furniture

12. better homes & gardens patio furniture

We have just added 18 new keywords to our list. If we have an average of 18 expanded keywords for each of our original 72 words we will have a total of 1296 keywords that are target specific to our site theme.

This method works, but is somewhat labor intensive. I plan to show you faster ways to collect your keywords in a future article. If you are low on funds though, this is an excellent way to build your list. Then, all you have to do is to write an article with 5 to 8 paragraphs per article, with your keyword
used at least once in each paragraph.

The search engines will love this kind of “content” site.

Although there are hundreds of online marketing techniques you can employ, over short periods of time Blog Prospecting can give you and your website the most marketing bang for spending zero in advertising bucks. The only cost on your part is just a little time or sweat equity.

Although, some services like Blogger work better if you are a member, and there are a few Blogging services and Blog owners who refuse to allow promotion of website links period.

So what is Blog Prospecting?

Simply put you are searching for other peoples Blogs that have content that (A) You are interested in commenting on and (B) that the Blog’s content would attract similar readers or visitors, that would as well be interested in what you are offering.

Here are three Blog Search Engines you can utilize:

Then you make a marketing commitment to find at least two Blogs a day that you are happy to provide an excellent/constructive/inspiring comment to a post you are interested in (we are not talking about using automated software programs here-that’s spamming). When you leave your post, make sure to also leave a clickable html link to the URL or webpage you are promoting in your comment signature.

It is as simple as that.

Blog Prospecting is not the same as Blog spamming, as please don’t leave comments just for the sake of getting a link to your sitethat is spamming and it will come back to bite you at some point. Make absolute sure you have something poignant to say.

Not only will you increase traffic to your site, and gain faster search engine inclusion, and better rankings, you will as well be communicating with other Blog and website owners who after reading your clever comments may decide to join your list, buy your product/service or better yetwant to propose a Joint Venture or work with you.

Blog Prospecting is an effective marketing technique that obviously has many positive side benefits. Following this advice could result in 100’s of QUALITY links back to your site in very little period of timethat is, if you like that sort of thing?
